All The Thanks For This | TN Spread

Hi Everyone!

It's been a hot minute since I've posted here, but I've still been creating projects and sharing them over on my Instagram account.  I'd love to connect with you over there where I share everything I'm up to in between my posts here.

Today I'm sharing a TN spread that I've created for Traci Reed Designs using her brand new collection, All The Thanks For This.  This collection is super pretty with a beautiful colour palette and so many elements to it (of course I couldn't go past the florals).  It does have a nod towards a Thanksgiving theme, but there are so many options in the collection that you can easily create non-themed projects with it.

I've also used the October/November sketch from Wei Wei's Love to Scrap on TN Challenge.  This is the sketch and I've stuck pretty closely to it.  If you're a TN scrapper and want to check her challenges out, you can find all the details on Wei Wei's blog here.

I pulled together the smaller photos for the left page in Photoshop Elements.  I resized each one to 1.5in x 1.5in and then added them onto a 6x4 canvas, leaving some space for a white border between each of them.  Once I printed the 6x4 canvas I trimmed it to 3.25in square to leave a white border around the outside, and matted it with the woodgrain paper from the collection.  

I've been using digital/hybrid elements for a little while now, but I've never been able to master the combination of using printer registration marks and the offset tool to cut my ephemera pieces out using my Silhouette.  But... I've seen a couple of great tutorials lately and I'm super happy to say finally it worked for me!  One YouTube video I can definitely recommend if you're trying to master this yourself is this one by Dearly Dee. I'm so, so happy with how these pieces look after being cut using this method on my Silhouette!

The right page is for a larger photo,  a flower cluster and some strip journalling.  I love how uncomplicated TN spreads can be.

I added some teeny tiny seeds that look like they're falling in the wind to the top of the right page, and called this spread done.

Something Goulish This Way Comes!

Today I have a sweet set of Halloween cards to share with you.

I've put these cards together with the gorgeous new Ghouls Like You collection from Traci Reed Designs.

There are so many awesome journalling cards in this collection and I chose one for each of my cards to be the jumping off point.  

The journalling cards come as 3x4, so I resized them to be 2 inches wide (a better size for cards), and then printed them off.  One of my favourite bonuses of hybrid scrapbooking is that you can resize elements to suit your project.

To save matting the cards I just trimmed them leaving a white border on each side.

I hand stitched a border in a peach embroidery thread and used a few of the stickers in the collection to layer around my resized journalling card.  Then I added some orange sequins from my stash to the flower centres.

The jumping off point for my second card was another journalling card that I resized to 2 inches wide.  How adorable are these ghosties!?  I mean... Hey Boo! <3

Traci's collections always come with coordinating patterned papers in solid colours and I printed off a medium pink one, ran it through a scalloped edge punch, and then tucked it behind the black patterned paper to help it pop.

This time I added some sequins to a spiders' web sticker to make it look like it's glistening in the moonlight in the dead of night...

I have to say this is the cutest Halloween collection I've seen, and I love how it has so many pops of pink in it, but has enough traditional black and orange that it can totally be used for boy projects too.

Project Life 2018 | Week 19

I get really excited about getting some weeks in my project life album, and this week was one of them.  Most likely because we were all together as a family with both kids' partners as well, and it was a super fun weekend together.

My supplies this week are from the Studio Calico Golden Hour Documenter kit, and I've kept things fairly simple in my effort to catch up a few spreads (I'm currently 10 weeks behind eep!)

For my title card I recoloured a Studio Calico digital label from my stash so that it matched the orange on the card and in the chipboard.  Then I used one of my go-to methods to record the week number and dates, by choosing a larger font for the week number and a smaller neutral font for the dates, and I did that in Photoshop Elements before I printed it out on my printer.  Since the card is already pretty punchy with bold colours, the only thing I needed to add was the chippy piece.

All of my journalling this week is on the right side of the spread.  I used a journalling card from the kit, and also put together my own card by cutting down a red filler card from the kit to use as a matt to regular white cardstock on top of a mustard coloured card.

This spread is a sweet and simple one, and I'm definitely glad to have it in my album.

Week 17 // Project Life 2018

Hi guys!

I have another Project Life spread to share with you today.  I'm still jumping over the place a bit with my weeks, and today I have week 17.

I decided to combine two half-used Studio Calico Documenter kits to work on this spread, the Bookmarked kit and the Candyland kit.  I love how easily they worked together on the one project.

I also have an insert this week, and used an Ali Edwards 3x8 pocket page.  I cut and then sealed it at the 4in vertical with my Fuse tool so that I could create 2 3x4 pockets.  You could also get the same result by cutting the two right side pockets off a regular 4 x 3in x 4in pocket page.

The insert is hard to see, but this is the full spread on the first side.

I love hybrid title cards so much.  I've picked a cute scripty font for the week number, and a matching font for the dates of the week.  I recoloured the week number to a dark olive green to match the card behind it.  After I printed it out I stitched a border in embroidery thread for some beautiful texture, and added a puffy sticker.

So you'll notice I have a lot of natural colours coming through in my photos this week again with worn grass in one and the cement floor in another.  I've pulled these colours in with some textural elements like lace and some embroidery thread.  I added a few French knots to the centre of the flower in this filler card, and then I pulled out some lace from my stash that I dyed with a tea bath ages ago, and layered it behind a torn strip from one of the gold foil kit cards.

So grateful to get photos like these from our kids to include in our album.  How elegant to they look!?

This weekend was a getaway for us to the Gold Coast.  It was super fun and we spent time doing things like staying at the casino, eating at our favourite restaurants and shopping. I even dragged G out to the front of the casino to get that awesome photo of the tree-lined entrance.

 One little photo with Borobi, the Commonwealth Games mascot, and that finishes up this spread!

Clique Kits | September Pep Rally

Hi everyone!

It's Pep Rally day over at Clique Kits today and I'm joining in with a TN spread created with the September Farmhouse Traveller's Notebook kit.

The lemon paper from the 8x8 Websters Pages papers was perfect to document this super-size-me lemon that we harvested from our 2 year old lemon tree in July.

I fussy cut some of the lemon patterned paper to fill the top left of the spread and adhered it to look like it was hanging like a tree branch over my title.  I wanted to document the fact that our little tree is only 2 years old, so I used some of the mini alphas from the kit to add the year that it was planted to an ephemera label.

I'm trying to incorporate more stamping into my projects, so I pulled some Elle's Studio alpha stamps from my stash and stamped out Gardening as a large title, then used a sticker from the kit to finish it off as Gardening Favourites.  Loved how this worked out!

For the right side I trimmed some more of the same lemon paper into a tag and added a reinforcing hole from my stash and some twine from the kit to use in my layers behind my photo.  

Finally I added some strip journalling and called this spread done.  I'm so happy with our little lemon tree that could, and happy that I got to document this memory in my TN.
