Traveler's Notebook Spread | Live in Wonder

When it comes to traveler's notebooks I love that they are versatile enough to work with a clean and simple style, a mixed media style, or even to add cut files too.  And since I'm a fan of all three that works out pretty well for me!

Over the weekend I had this TN spread up on the Clique Kits blog that uses both mixed media and a cut file.  I've used the February Traveler's Notebook kit from Clique Kits and played with some watercolours to back a pretty floral cut file in the same colour palette as the ephemera on the page, which is from the Pinkfresh Studio Indigo Hills 2 collection.

If you'd like to see the full layout you can find it here on the Clique Kits blog.

2019 Project Life Plans & Title Page

Hi friends!

Welcome to 2019, a brand new year and the chance for new starts!

When it comes to pocket page scrapbooking, the end of a year is a bit like a full stop, or the end of a chapter.  A new year is a chance to choose a different approach, a different sized album, new products and I just love that.

The past three years that I've been doing pocket page scrapbooking I've used a 6x8 album and, while I loved it, I really wondered if it was time for a change this year.

My journalling had also been in variations of the Avenir font for those same three years, and it was definitely time for a change up there.

So, what have I planned for my pocket page album this year?...

I've decided to jump right in and change up my album size to a 6x12.  I've decided on this Charcoal cloth album from Studio Calico, and since I generally fit half a year into each SC album, I've ordered two of them.

I'd like to do a double page spread each week, but some weeks might be a single page spread if I don't have many photos.

I'm thinking I'd like to try white borders on all my photos, I did start this in 2017 but got bored with it, so we'll see how that goes.

I've also found a cute new font that I adore.  It's still sans serif but has nice height and spacing between the rows... does that sound too font geeky!?

And I want to use more sequins, more lace and ribbon (and all the pom pom trim), all those fun things.

And so, here is my title page for 2019 using the beautiful October 2018 Clique Kits travellers notebook kit.  The page includes a lot of the techniques and styles I'd like to use this year, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

What are your plans for your 2019 pocket pages?  Are you starting back after a break, changing up your album size or style?  I'd love to hear your plans.

November Pep Rally | Clique Kits

Hi guys!

It's Pep Rally day over at Clique Kits, and that means we're sharing one last project made with the November kits.

I've used the Seneca Falls main kit to create a project life spread for week 41 of 2018.

My title card is put together with a tag created from white cardstock, a stamped week number and the dates of the week printed from a document in Word.  I also used a little stitching and some ephemera pieces to finish this card off.

If you're creating a PL spread but don't have any dedicated PL journaling cards, a tip is to look for a label that can add some interest to a white cardstock piece.  This The Good Life label from one of the patterned papers fit nicely onto some white cardstock that I printed my journalling on.

This month I purchased the November Color add on kit which features these beautiful script stamps from Avery Elle. They stamp so beautifully, and I'll definitely be using them in a lot of my upcoming projects.

One final little journalling card and I called this spread done!

Be sure to check out the Insta Hop over at @cliquekits on Instagram today to see all the fab projects shared using the November kits.

Clique Kits | September Pep Rally

Hi everyone!

It's Pep Rally day over at Clique Kits today and I'm joining in with a TN spread created with the September Farmhouse Traveller's Notebook kit.

The lemon paper from the 8x8 Websters Pages papers was perfect to document this super-size-me lemon that we harvested from our 2 year old lemon tree in July.

I fussy cut some of the lemon patterned paper to fill the top left of the spread and adhered it to look like it was hanging like a tree branch over my title.  I wanted to document the fact that our little tree is only 2 years old, so I used some of the mini alphas from the kit to add the year that it was planted to an ephemera label.

I'm trying to incorporate more stamping into my projects, so I pulled some Elle's Studio alpha stamps from my stash and stamped out Gardening as a large title, then used a sticker from the kit to finish it off as Gardening Favourites.  Loved how this worked out!

For the right side I trimmed some more of the same lemon paper into a tag and added a reinforcing hole from my stash and some twine from the kit to use in my layers behind my photo.

Finally I added some strip journalling and called this spread done.  I'm so happy with our little lemon tree that could, and happy that I got to document this memory in my TN.

Thanks for stopping by today, and be sure to check out the other Pep Rally projects using the September Travellers Notebook and Main kits from Clique Kits!

Week 21 Project Life

Hi Everyone!

Popping in with a project life share tonight.

It's Friday night here in Australia, the last day of winter, and a couple weeks out from an awesome holiday for me, so things are feeling pretty good.

This spread is week 21and is made with the Clique Kits August Travellers Notebook Meadow kit (now sold out).

I put together this cute filler card by stitching down one of the ephemera pieces, fussy cutting that adorable pink scooter from one of the patterned papers, and adding some stitching and a star sticker as accents.

I also fussy cut one of the postcard graphics from a patterned paper to be my title card this week. I love, love the alphas in the kit this month.  They've been super easy to use, and have  repositioned really easily if I need to shift them.

I decided to make a larger journalling card on a 6x4 pocket, and die cut a tag shape out of plain white cardstock as a base for my journalling.  I added my go-to stitching technique at the moment with some apricot embroidery thread and a pretty bow in grey twine to finish it off.

And that's my spread done!  A quick one this week, I hope I've inspired you to grab your craft scissors, find some patterned paper to fussy cut, and create some cute elements for your spreads!

Have a great weekend guys, and thanks for dropping by today.

Hawaii Vacay Travellers Notebook Spread with Clique Kits

Hi friends!

Travellers notebooks have gained so much popularity in 2018 and it's no wonder, a spread can be finished in just a few minutes, they're pretty much a mini album (love, love mini albums), and they're just so sweet!

Now there are oodles of card sketches and 12x12 sketches around these days, but not too many dedicated TN sketches yet, so today I'm showing you how you can adapt a 12x12 sketch to suit your TN spread.

The key to this process is that a TN when it's opened out, is more or less a square.  So all you need to do is take the 12x12 sketch, scale it down a little, and then split it down the middle.

So this is my TN spread, and just down below is the awesome Clique Kits August 2018 sketch.  First up you can see that this isn't a regular two-sided TN spread and it has definite cut line through the main part of the layout and my photo.

To do this I cut two inserts from white cardstock trimmed to 8.25 in x 4.25in each.  Then I added some washi to the back to hold them together while I constructed my page.  When I was happy with it I ran it through my paper trimmer to re-form the two inserts, and added it to my TN.

The Clique Kits August Meadow TN kit includes 6x6 papers, so to stretch one paper from top to bottom of my TN (which is 8.25 in) I trimmed a shorter top strip and a longer bottom strip.  Since the photo area overlaps each side of the paper its super easy to cover up the missing piece.

Since this spread is about our last night on holiday in Hawaii last year, the world map ephemera piece was a great matt for my photo.  I embossed some vellum from my stash and layered it, as well as a die cut doily from white cardstock.

One of the kit papers is a page full of destination badges.  I was so excited to see this Hawaii one and new I had to use it.  I love the almost postage stamp edge to it, and fussy cut all.the.notches around the edge.

The Crate Paper Here & There word stickers from the kit were black and white, and didn't quite suit my spread so I chose these Vacay stickers as my title and set to altering them with my Bronze Metallic Sharpie pen.  They were a little streaky after one coat, but after three coats they look awesome!  So happy I tried this.

To finish off my spread I added some strip journalling true to the sketch, and called this one done.  I hope I've inspired you to try a 12x12 sketch in your travellers notebook, and be sure to check out the August Clique Kits sketch challenge, over on the Clique Facebook group.  We'd love to see your take!
