The first blog post is up this morning, with an introduction to the Creative Team and some beautiful inspiration from some of the girls.  There's also a couple of sneak peaks of my first share to come really soon!  Pop over to the Your Creative Wings blog to see the full post.

There are so many great chippy designs, but this little fairy just might be one of my favourites.  Hmm, okay.... so maybe I actually have a LOT of favourites right now, ha!

Week 17 Project Life

It's been a while since I've posted a Project Life spread, and yes this one is from April, well late April (that sounds better right!)  So I'm a bit behind, but I'm grateful for the weeks that I am getting documented.

For this week's spread I've used The  Story of Us collection from Simple Stories.  Technically it's a wedding themed collection, but I was drawn to the black (read chalkboard), gold, florals and faded timber in the line.  I love how it turned out and don't think there's too much on my finished spread that looks really wedding related.

Here's the left side.

And the right.

My supplies were the 6x6 paper pad and two ephemera packs - the Bits & Pieces pack and the Insta Squares pack.  I also added some label stickers, alphas, brads, tags and envelopes from Simple Stories' DIY and Snap Studio lines.

Because I'm documenting a few months back, my separate Project Life diary that I've been keeping this year and my printed planning pages are coming in really handy.  I keep my Project Life diary on the sideboard in our dining room so it's really accessible, and every couple of days I'll jot down anything of note that has happened.

To make this filler card with the ampersand on the left below, I trimmed out one of the patterned papers to 3 x 4".  I then rounded the corners, added one of the 2" Insta Squares, and stitched a zigzag stitch in gold thread around the edge.

The kraft tags make a great journalling base and just slip straight into my trusty typewriter.

This gold doily from the ephemera pack is so sweet, and to make it go further I trimmed it in half and used it in two places on my spread.

I totally loved the patterned paper with a printed border, but being a 6 x 6" paper it wouldn't work with my 6 x 4" pocket.  To get around this I just trimmed a strip from the middle of the paper, making sure that there was enough left on the top and bottom pieces so that they would still join up.  Because it's a chalkboard paper I ran a black ink along the cut edge of the overlapping piece so the white core wouldn't stand out.  You have to look really closely to see the join.

To finish off the filler card I've backstitched a border in green embroidery thread around a 3 x 3" Insta Square, folded over two diagonal corners and secured them with brads, and finally added some punched flowers in the same corners and layered over a few sequins for the flower centres.

Week 17 was our three day working week, Monday was Easter Monday and Friday was Anzac Day.  We spent time on the beach, Brent marched in a local Anzac Day march, and Greg & I did a short bush walk into one of our local parks with a waterfall...until we were eaten by mozzies lol.

In other more recent news in August I turned 40.  I've been dreading it literally for years and I'm definitely not at ease with it yet, but there's not much I can do about it now is there!?  My family and friends totally spoiled me and I had a great day.  I even talked Greg and Kayci in to a little photo shoot in the afternoon down on the beach.  The colours of the late afternoon were so pretty!

I have so much to be grateful for I guess clicking over another decade isn't really the end of the world is it?  Here's to the next 10!

Thanks for stopping by,

Whatever You Are, Be a Good One

Hi lovely blog friends, sharing another just for fun layout today.  It's my second layout using the Kaisercraft Bow & Arrow collection.  You can see my first layout over on this blog post.

The photo for this layout was taken from the top of one of the Glasshouse Mountains.  Greg, Kayci and I had hiked up Mt Ngungun (erm.. its definitely one of the smallest in the group of mountains thank goodness). The view from the top is stunning, you can see from the north of the Sunshine Coast out to the ocean, there's amazing views of the other Glasshouse Mountains and you can even see the Brisbane city skyline in the distance.

Most of the elements on this layout come from the patterned papers in the Bow & Arrow collection, but I have added a few bits & pieces from my stash.  I've pulled out my gold thread again, love it so much and keep going back to it.

Kaisercraft is among the papercraft companies that add extra printed elements to the title strip at the bottom of their patterned papers.  I'll often find myself adding these little bonus pieces to a layout. The quote strip "Live a life full of Laugher & Love" is one of these, and the deep brown strip with green chevrons running vertically behind my photo is another.

The apricot flower is from the Prima Princess range.  Love the dusting of glass glitter on these.  The brad is from Simple Stories and the sweet enamel dot heart is from We R Memory Keepers.

I've die cut a couple of clouds in white cardstock and run a black pen around the edge to define them.

The elk's antlers are adorable by themselves, but I've layered some wound gold thread and a resin flower to add a little extra.

This Abraham Lincoln quote on one of the 3x4" cards is a little twist on a life lesson that my parents always instilled in me when I was younger, that if something is worth doing, it's worth doing well.  I thought it fit well with the contemplative vibe of the photo.

Thanks for dropping by!

Always All Boy Kit Back in Stock

Hi there friends, and Happy Friday to you!

You might remember this fun boy themed layout that was featured on the Crate Paper blog a while back?  For my full blog post on it head over here.

This layout was a kit that I designed for Daisy Chain Scrapbooks, and I did promise to let you know when it was available to buy, but didn't...my bad! Sorry about that.

It did actually sell out at the Brisbane Scrapbook Expo, but Barbi has managed to track down a few more of the sticker sheets used in the layout (they've been discontinued by Crate Paper), so as of today there are just three more kits of that layout available from Daisy Chain Scrapbooks.

If you'd like to grab one of these last kits either pop in store to see Barbi, or if you can't make it in store she is always happy to mail kits and any of her products out to you (postage costs apply).

Have a great weekend!

Live a Life Less Ordinary

I've really loved some of the collections that Kaisercraft have been releasing lately.  Bow & Arrow is one of their new releases and features lots of woodland patterns, woodgrain, arrows and feathers.

I combined this collection with a Pie Chart cut file from the Silhouette Store (design id #41038) and  pieced the patterned papers behind each of the pie pieces.  Once they were all in place I adhered the pie chart to my white cardstock and stitched around it a couple of times.

The front side of the Paper Sunrise patterned paper has feathers in different sizes and prints, and I've fussy cut some of those for the cluster to the side of my photo.

I've pulled a few embellishments from my stash to scatter around the layout, that cute heart paperclip is from Prima.

For my title I have followed the line of the die cut with two alternating alphas.  Love the Basic Grey scrabble alphas!

You might remember that I really don't like handwriting my journalling, like, reaaallly don't like it.  I thought I'd give it a try again, you know, just so that it's my handwriting on a layout.  But I have to tell you this attempt has not changed my mind one little bit!  I'm definitely no Ali Edwards or Heidi Swapp in the handwriting department ha!  Then just a few Studio Calico stars and some splatters to finish.

This was my first time paper piecing and it was so much fun.  Have you tried it yet?

Thanks for stopping by!

Simple Stories Card

Just quickly popping in today to share a card made with the bright and happy Good Day Sunshine collection from Simple Stories.  This collection has been hugely popular and its easy to see why - it's just so FUN!!

I couldn't go past the sweet bicycle on a 6x4" vertical journalling card as my card base. A few elements from the Bits & Pieces pack, some vintage ribbon, a brad and enamel dot and finished off with a simple sentiment and this was a super quick and happy card!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
