Project Life with Studio Calico

Earlier this week I realised I had a spread that I hadn't shared yet.  It's waaaay back near the start of 2018, but it's one of my favourites for the entire year so I couldn't not share it right?

This spread uses the Studio Calico February 2018 Candyland Documenter kit, and I also grabbed the 6x8 paper pad they had on offer that month as well.  If you've been following me for a while you'll know that I use patterned paper and embellishments a lot in my pocket page spreads as well as PL cards.

This week I had a fair few photos because Brent and Soph visited us, and we did a bit of a bushwalking and went out for lunch over the weekend.  I've added a 3x8 insert to the centre of the spread with a square photo at the top of each side, which leaves plenty of space for journalling on the rest of the 3x8 insert.

When you're working with PL cards, even 3x4 cards, don't be afraid to cut them up to use bits and pieces of them.  Here I was able to trim down the salmon pink card with gold foil dots to add as an accent to my 3x8 insert.

I'm such a clean and simple scrapper these days and rarely pull out my mists, but I knew this 3x8 insert needed a little something extra.  I really love how much the extra colour changes up this card.  Note to self... pull out my mists & paints more often ha!

I'm glad I did eventually get to share this spread.  Like I said it's one of my favourites for the year so far and it makes me want to order a new kit from Studio Calico... hmm

Thanks for stopping by today!

Project Life with Clique Kits June Horizon Kit

Hi everyone, and welcome to the Clique Kits June Pep Rally!

Pep Rally is all about sharing projects made with each month's Clique Kits, and I have a project life spread to share using the super fun and tropical June Horizon main kit.

My very favourite supply from this kit is the Thicker alphas from Dear Lizzy.  They're so white and sparkly, and remind me of sneaking past our Christmas tree at night in my childhood, with tinsel glistening in the low light, full of magic and wonder.

This week we had some time in the city for an event, and spent a lot of time with friends, so I had already saved some Insta stories to my phone that I had added captions to in Instagram, or possibly even in Snapchat.  So that took a bit of work out of the spread for me.

My title card came together using one of the exclusive designs from the cut apart sheet that comes with the kit.  I love that it already has a background design to kickstart my title card.  I stitched a circle in a complimentary thread as an anchor for the rest of my embellishments.  For my week dates I created a text box in Word, changed the font colour to white, and eyeballed the background colour to match the phrase sticker sheet that comes with the kit.

To create a filler card I layered together a scallop punched circle, a strip of patterned paper, some of the leaf embellishments and a gorgeous layered butterfly.  To finish it off I added a sentiment from the phrase sticker sheet.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, and to see more projects created with the June Horizon kits from Clique Kits, check out the hashtags #ckpeprally and #click_connect_create on Instagram!

Dad Jokes!

You guys I can't even tell you how much I LOVE the puns in this new traveller's notebook collection from Traci Reed.

You're kind of a big dill (ha!)
Olive You (aww!)
You're Off'Fish'Ally the Best Dad (bless!)

This collection is perfect for Father's Day projects, but also for any male projects.  I've made a card today that could be used for Father's Day, or a male birthday, or just as a thank-you!

I've used one of the more neutral papers for my background, and die cut a tag from that beautiful rich woodgrain.  Then layered a piece of the diamond paper from the collection (which totally reminds me of a sweater pattern!) before starting with some smaller embellishments.

My tip for today is to use elements in a collection in a different way than they were designed for.  I printed the bunting flag from the embellishment sheet, but trimmed out just two of the flags and then turned them upside down as another part of my layering, and I loved how they added to the overall design!

And the hero of the card, the pickle jar embellishment with the sentiment 'You're Kind of a Big Dill' bahaha.  Sooo adorable!!

Thanks for stopping by today guys, and be sure to check out the Dad Jokes collection at Sweet Shoppe Designs for all of your Father's Day projects, or as an awesome male oriented collection.
