A Shaker Pocket Card with Clique Kits

Hi Friends!

Have you had a chance to check out the May Riga kit from Clique Kits yet?  Oh. My. Goodness, they are right up my alley with soo much rose gold and pretty pastels with navy and pops of coral, and of course gorgeous embellishments from Pink Fresh Studio!

Luckily for me my kit arrived just in time to create a card for a very special friend's 21st birthday.

This is a pretty simple card design but I love how it turned out.  I started with a base of patterned paper then cut a banner with some white cardstock from my stash.  To make my shaker pocket I diecut and layered two contrasting patterned papers to form the top border of the shaker pocket.  Then I just backed that with some plastic packaging from one of the products in the kit.

From there all you need to do to finish your shaker pocket is to run some dimensional adhesive behind the border and tip your sequins in (these gorgeous sequins came as part of the kit), before adhering to the back of the shaker element, in this case my white cardstock banner.

The sweet birdie just sits on the top of the clear plastic packaging.

To finish the card I pulled a couple more elements from the kit, the rose gold bakers twine and some ephemera pieces.

If you haven't had a chance to check out the May Riga kits from Clique Kits yet, drop by their shop today.

Traci Reed Designs Mini Album Part 2

Hi Friends!

Today I'm sharing the second half of my mini album created with the latest release from Traci Reed Designs, called A Hullabaloo For You.

If you missed the first half of this mini don't despair!  You can still catch it over here on this post. But a quick roundup of the story so far is that I've made a tag mini album to celebrate and record my daughter's 18th birthday.  And of course this super fun happy collection is the perfect one to document it with!

I'm loving shaker pockets and shaker elements in general at the moment.  This one was put together with a scalloped circle in the gorgeous red and white polka dot paper straight layered with dimensional adhesive straight over the white cardstock base.  I used packaging from some other scrapbooking supplies for the see-through top element to hold my glitter in place.

This makes a perfect bench for the cake sticker to sit.

I used my WeRMemoryKeepers frame punch board to trim an Instax-style frame for my photo to sit in on this page.  Kayci was throwing star sequins in this photo, so the little decoration sticker elements were an awesome embellishment for this page.

I used one of the 3x4 horizontal cards as a major element on this page.  I love that it overhands the sides of the tag and is just so bold.

I've used a full set of balloons here, but that's okay, because when you're using a digital/hybrid collection, you just go ahead and print out another set as you need it!

The journalling for this page is printed on another one of the 3x4 cards and then I've tucked one of the stickers under the the bottom of it.

The 'let's eat cake' sticker was meant for this photo right!?

Ahh, so again with the shaker pocket ha!  This time I used a spare tag as a template and cut out two tags in vellum, and stitched around the two sides and bottom in a zig zag stitch on my sewing machine.  I actually tipped a WHOLE BAG OF SEQUINS into this pocket eep!!  And then stitched up the top so they were secure and couldn't escape.

This little heart has some hidden journalling inside.  To make my paper double-sided I printed first one side with a patterned paper design and then flipped it in my printer and printed the other side with a plain paper design.  Then I die cut my paper into the heart shape.  The important thing to remember here is to use a symmetrical shape so that it folds in half nicely.

I stitched some ribbon and trim together on my sewing machine and adhered it around the centre of my heart, and then stitched a button in embroidery thread to act as a closure for the yellow bakers twine as it winds around the button.

And to the back of the mini.   I used a scalloped die to cut some of that pretty yellow plain paper and then layered some torn patterned paper, and a banner and wrapped gift sticker from the sticker sheet.

I hope you enjoyed a quick tour through this mini, I had so much fun making it and playing with this gorgeous collection A Hullabaloo For You!

If you haven't seen the full collection yet be sure to pop by Traci's shop over at Sweet Shoppe Designs to check it out!

Traci Reed Designs Mini Album Part 1

Hi Friends!

Today is release day for Traci Reed Designs over at the Sweet Shoppe Designs shoppe

Get ready to celebrate, because today's release is called A Hullabaloo For You!  This bright and cheery collection is birthday themed, and is just one big bunch of happiness.  I usually lean towards pastel tones, but as soon as I started creating with this collection I just felt inexplicably happy, the colours in the collection are just so beautiful, vibrant and happy.

Traci is updating and re-releasing some of her very favourite collections at the moment into travellers notebook editions.  But, she's also included full 12 x 12 papers as well as the TN sized papers, so really you can use these collections for any paper crafting project you'd like.

For this project I've made a mini album celebrating my daughter's 18th birthday.  The basic shape of the mini is a tag, and I've used a cut file saved in my Silhouette library and cut base tags in both patterned papers and white cardstock.

While I had my Silhouette out I also cut the title in the hot pink quatrefoil paper.

The scalloped circle is a die from my stash.  I ran it through my Cuttlebug on white cardstock, and backstitched in white embroidery floss around the inner edge.  Then I've used some dimensional adhesive to pop up the title and embellishments.

Once I'd finished the front cover it was time for some content.  This page is about being interactive and I created a pocket on the bottom tag to slip a couple of photos into.  I attached some ribbon as a tab to each of the photos.

I popped in some strip journalling on the top tag and called this one done.

So I have this thing for polka dots, and for bunting. Kinda explains this page ha!  I've used a photo on one of the tags and added journalling on the other, and used some of the fun wrapped gift and party hat embellishments to finish each one.

One thing I've tried to achieve with this album is to not be restricted by the edges of the tags, and to let elements overhang the sides.  I love the extra dimension it gives!

This collection comes with pocket page cards as well as the papers and stickers, and the journalling cards come in super handy as a place to include journalling.  I think I resized the 3x4 cards just slightly in photoshop elements so they were a little smaller and fit my mini, and then typed my journalling before printing the card out.

And that's the first half of my mini using the re-released A Hullabaloo For You collection!  I had so much fun making this mini and can't wait to share the second half of it with you later this week.

Be sure to stop by the Traci Reed Designs shop to check this super fun happy collection out!

A Trio of Cards with A Star is Born

Do you have a performer in your midst that loves being on stage?  Or perhaps you a special gift for someone that is tickets to a movie, show or concert?

Today I've taken the A Star is Born collection by Traci Reed and made a trio of cards that would be perfect to accompany any good luck gift to a performer, or tickets to an event.

I know I've said this before but gosh I love how much sparkle Traci's been able to get into the
printable glitter papers in this collection.  They really do look like they're pure 3D glitter!  Obviously the gold is my favourite haha!

For the first card I started with a base layer of patterned paper, then used my WeRMemoryKeepers frame punch board to create a frame from a contrasting paper, which I backed with some white cardstock embossed through my Cuttlebug.

From there I just cut some star die cut pieces in coordinating colours and added a few of the stickers from the collection.

This would be just perfect to pop tickets to an event into for one of your loved ones!

This is one.super.simple.card, but it has some beautiful bold and rich colours to it.  I've used the gorgeous navy/black and gold diamond paper for my background, which I've edged in a backstitch of gold embroidery thread.

The main sentiment is one of the 3x4 cards from the collection, which I've run through my Cuttlebug with a circle die, and then layered with a larger circle in white cardstock and added some banners  in one of my (of course!) favourite gold glitter papers from the collection.

My final card is one that would be perfect to accompany a good luck gift to someone that had any kind of performance coming up.  I've started with the typewritten paper from the collection as a base, and then added the ruby polka dot paper for contrast, before (you guessed it!) a tag cut from the gold glitter paper.

I've popped one of the journalling tags from the sticker sheet behind the gold tag, and then layered a strip from the negative film paper towards the bottom of the card, and added some more sticker pieces, all topped off by a die cut bow (which I kind of  interpret as a bow tie!)

And that's my trio of cards!  Be sure to stop by Sweet Shoppe Designs to check out this versatile collection for any performers or show-themed projects you have.

A TN Spread with Rugged by Traci Reed Designs

Hi Everyone!

If you know me or follow me on Instagram, you'll know that I just love to get out into the fresh clean air and quietness of the bush to rest and recharge.

That's why I was super excited at the release of the Rugged traveller's notebook collection from Traci Reed Designs, because I have so. many. pictures of us hiking to scrap!

I chose this photo of me in New Zealand on the Routeburn Track, one of the favourite places I've ever hiked.

After layering a few pieces of patterned paper on the left side of my spread, I used my Silhouette to cut the cut file that comes with the kit.  I used black cardstock from my stash for this to create some contrast with the rest of the spread, and to work with the darker colours in the photo.

Last week I saw this post from Kellie Winnell who is also on the Traci Reed Designs team, and I just loved the way she printed her sticker sheet on vellum!  So of course I totally had to borrow that idea ;) and printed the Rugged sticker sheet on vellum.  The zig zag vertical layer is one of those elements and I'm so happy with how you can still see some of the patterned paper behind it.

I backed a couple of the mountains in the cut file with some patterned papers from the collection.

I also resized a couple of the sticker elements like this arrow, so that they were the size I wanted to suit my spread - so handy to be able to do this with hybrid products!

I finished off the spread with some layers of papers and stickers, and a few staples from my tiny attacher.

If you have outdoorsy photos to scrap then this will be just the perfect collection for you!  Be sure to stop by the shoppe at Sweet Shoppe Designs to pick up this collection, and as a double bonus its on double discount for 48 hours from release at midday EST 10 April 2018!!

A TN Spread with Traci Reed Designs

So very excited to be sharing my first project as part of the Traci Reed Designs DT for 2018!

Today I'm working with the A Star is Born Travellers Notebook collection, which is full of bold colours and sparkly elements.

We had our son's 21st birthday this weekend just gone and this pic that we took of our family in front of the limousine booked as a special surprise couldn't have fitted better with the theme of this collection.

I'm using hybrid products so much more this year, (hello three week wait for shipping from the US), and I'm so loving being able to purchase a product and have it available straight away.

For this spread I've printed quite a few of the patterned papers that come pre-sized to fit your TN.  I've also printed and then cut on my Silhouette the sticker sheet.

I adhered these ticket stubs that were individual sticker elements together to create a bottom border on the right page of my spread.

I also used my Silhouette to cut the title from one of the patterned papers.  It's just one of the regular fonts on my computer but I think it fits with the overall theme of the spread so well, kinda glitzy ya know!?

One of the things I love most about this collection is how much the sparkly elements shine through.  When you think about it, the texture on these papers is totally two-dimensional, but they so look like a real glitter paper, so cool!

Be sure to stop by Traci's shop to check out the A Star is Born TN collection.  You can even snag a discount at the moment!
